Plenty of hot tub makers sell their wares in the UK. We thought we’d take a look at three of the best, and reveal why they’re so good. We’ve also provided a few cons to help you make up your mind. And last but not least, if you’re concerned about how far a hot tub has to travel before it reaches the UK, we recommend a popular EU hot tub manufacturer closer to home.
Sundance Spas Hot Tubs
Sundance dates back to 1979, the mark of a successful company. You don’t survive for that long unless you’re pretty damn good at what you do! The brand takes the family name – the wonderfully-named Sundance family from Costa Mesa in California. These days it’s one of the world leaders in the hot tub sector with a rock solid reputation for innovation, quality and great design, especially good for family tubs for people of every age.
Designed in the USA and sold via 750 independent retailers in 75 countries, Sundance creates full hydrotherapy spas including LED lights, advanced controls and excellent filter systems. Their unique Fluidix jets give you streams of water so powerful you get a wonderfully deep massage. The MicroClean Ultra Filtration System on some models is exceptionally good at keeping the water clear and fighting bacteria.
Many of their hot tubs also have sound systems to entertain you. There are UV-C water purifiers available on some types if that’s what you want, along with a luxury aromatherapy system. No wonder they’ve won awards, specifically for their 880 Series 7-seater with its silent air injector jets and potential for adding ‘fragrance beads’ and massage jets.
SundanceSpas hot tubs go for anything from around £6,500 to about £22,000. Loved for their quality, great materials and good value as well as their hydrotherapy technology and excellent patented horizontal Microclean filter system, they have a few cons too. They’re pricier than some brands. You pay for the large filter with a bit less room on some models, since the filter house takes up quite a lot of room. And their popular 680 series only comes in a small range of colours. On the other hand, for many people, the fact that they offer one of the best hydromassages out there makes up for it.
Hydropool Hot Tubs
Hydropool is a Canadian hot tub designer and manufacturer, a popular hot tub and swim spa brand dating back to 1978, another company with a very long history that you can trust. They were eastern Canada’s first hot tub dealer, and they didn’t start making swim spas until 1995. They sell their tubs and swim spas internationally via more than 400 independent retailers across over 60 countries, well established, and they still make their products in Mississauga, Ontario.
These days the brand’s owned by Jacuzzi Brands LLC, offering a wide range of hot tub collections including the popular Signature Self-Cleaning and Serenity versions, available in all sorts of sizes, with varying features and price points.
The self-clean system we’ve mentioned is quite something, recognised and envied by other makers. This cool self-cleaning system is included in the Self-Cleaning Collection in either standard gold or a platinum upgrade. Magically, the tubs clean themselves every 15 minutes using advanced filtration and water purification tech to save you time, hassle and cash, and make the whole hot tub experience cleaner, fresher and easier to keep that way. Excellent relaxation potential, ergonomic seating for efficiency and comfort, powerful massaging jets, and sound systems complete the picture.
Hydropool hot tubs cost anything from about £7,500 – £21,000 depending on the model, and because they’re made in Canada, where it gets pretty darned chilly, they’re perfect for the UK climate. Their products meet strict California Energy Commission standards, insulated really well, and the special therapy zoning and programmable massage systems make them a popular choice.
Hot Spring Hot Tubs
Another hot tub designer and maker dating back to the 1970s, Hot Spring was formed in 1977 by two brothers, Jeff and Jon Watkins, whose first portable spa led to a business selling more than a million hot tubs worldwide. Made in Vista, California, there’s a range of collections, all with top quality jets, great water filter systems, and tough, ergonomic seats that make the most of the space.
Their patented Moto-Massage DX jet system is unique and you can transform some of the models to run on salt water if you like, for a seaside feel. The prices aren’t available on their UK site – annoying – but all you need to do is ask. Like the Hydropool brand they meet tough California Energy Commission standards and come with a choice of truly beautiful designs.
Hot Spring tubs are strong and well made, look great and have highly effective cleaning systems along with energy efficient features and very cool massage options, and that’s why they’re on our list of 3 top performing hot tubs available in the UK.
Is there a UK hot tub manufacturer?
These days many of us are keen to keep the miles travelled by the products we buy to a minimum. So is there a hot tub manufacturer closer to home than the USA or Canada, whose tubs come with fewer ‘hot tub miles’?
The answer is yes, and the company is Wellis spas, giving consumers an exceptional choice of premium, European-made hot tubs from the EUs biggest hot tub manufacturer. They do everything from luxury hot tubs for one person to lavish party tubs and amazing hydrotherapy experiences via their brilliant Swim Spas, all at competitive prices and all energy efficient. In fact their Life range offers some of the planet’s most energy efficient hot tubs.
Wellis is a respected front-runner in the hot tub scene, known and loved for their innovative designs and technologies, high end quality, and exceptional performance. Industry leading features include colour therapy, hyper efficient Scandinavian Insulation and gorgeous chrome jets, and their uniquely intuitive user friendly Smart Control Touch Panel is a pleasure to get familiar with.
Whatever manufacturer you choose, your hot tub will change your life. It’s such a gorgeous way to relax on your own, with family and friends, even in the dodgy UK climate.
